Aranor legal
Terms & Conditions
These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") are a binding agreement between you and MurvianLabs Private Limited, a company incorporated in India ("MurvianLabs", "we", "us", or "our"), governing the Aranor Android app, its updates, support, and related services (together, "Aranor" or the "Service").
1. Acceptance and eligibility
By downloading, installing, creating a vault in, accessing, purchasing, or using Aranor, you agree to these Terms and acknowledge the Privacy Policy. If you disagree, do not use the Service and uninstall it.
You must have legal capacity to enter this agreement. If you are below the age of legal majority or digital consent where you live, a parent or lawful guardian must review and accept these Terms and supervise your use. If you use Aranor for an organisation, you represent that you may bind it, and "you" includes that organisation.
Feature or purchase terms shown at the point of use also apply. If they conflict with these Terms, the specific terms control for that feature.
2. Limited licence
Subject to these Terms, we grant you a personal, limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable licence to install and use Aranor on devices you own or control for lawful personal or internal business purposes. No ownership or intellectual-property right is transferred.
You may not copy, redistribute, sell, rent, lease, sublicense, publicly provide, or create derivative works from Aranor except where law or an identified open-source licence expressly permits. You may not bypass technical limits, payment gates, integrity checks, or security measures, or reverse engineer the app except to the limited extent non-waivable law permits.
3. Self-custody and security model
- Your vault is encrypted and primarily stored on your device. You retain ownership of its contents.
- We do not receive or retain your master password or recovery secrets and have no universal key or back door.
- We cannot view your local vault, reset your master password, or guarantee recovery if your device, password, recovery material, and usable backups are lost.
- Biometric unlock is controlled by Android and does not replace a usable master password and recovery plan.
- Decoy, duress, travel, health, and breach-warning features reduce certain risks but cannot guarantee safety in every scenario.
Security depends on Aranor, Android, your hardware, your master password, and your choices. No password manager protects information displayed on an already compromised or unlocked device.
4. Your responsibilities
You agree to:
- choose a strong, unique master password and keep it and recovery material confidential;
- maintain more than one current, encrypted, tested backup where loss would cause harm;
- secure devices with current software, a screen lock, and suitable malware and physical protections;
- review autofill targets, URLs, QR codes, imports, exports, files, and recipients before approving an action;
- protect exported files and backup accounts, and remove obsolete copies where appropriate;
- comply with law and respect others' rights, credentials, privacy, and confidentiality; and
- install critical Aranor and operating-system security updates promptly.
You are responsible for vault content and ensuring you are authorised to store and use it. Do not send secrets to support. We are not responsible for someone gaining access through your unlocked device, disclosed master password, recovery material, or third-party account.
5. Backups, exports, transfer, and recovery
Backups and exports remain your responsibility. Aranor may help create, schedule, verify, retain, or restore encrypted files, but a success status is not a guarantee that every destination will remain available or a future device can recover every file. Permissions expire, providers revoke access, files become corrupted, and formats or hardware fail.
Periodically test recovery without overwriting your only working vault. Keep recovery secrets separate from encrypted backups while making both available to a trusted successor if intended. Deleting Aranor or wiping a device does not necessarily delete copies in Drive, removable storage, another device, or another provider; manage those separately.
Imports and transfers can overwrite, merge, or expose sensitive information. Verify the destination, file, device, and displayed fingerprint or code. You assume the risks of a user-directed export or transfer once it leaves Aranor's controlled process.
6. Third-party platforms and services
Aranor may interoperate with Android, Google Play, Firebase, Google Drive, HIBP, storage providers, device manufacturers, browsers, apps, and websites. They operate independently under their own terms and policies. We do not control or accept responsibility for their availability, security, accuracy, content, policy changes, account actions, or data practices.
Authorising an integration permits Aranor to perform the actions described at consent. You may revoke it through Aranor or the provider, but doing so can stop backups, purchase verification, or another feature. We may alter or discontinue an integration if its provider, law, security, or technical requirements change.
7. Paid features, subscriptions, and refunds
Aranor Premium is an automatically renewing subscription, monthly or yearly, sold through Google Play. The price, billing period, tax, trial, renewal, and cancellation terms shown at checkout apply. Google Play processes payment and cancellation. Unless checkout says otherwise, a subscription renews until cancelled through Google Play before the next billing date.
Refunds follow Google Play policies and mandatory consumer law. Losing paid status does not transfer your vault to us. Aranor will not intentionally condition basic access to, export of, or restoration of your existing vault on an active subscription, though premium creation, automation, capacity, or integrations may stop after expiry.
Prices and feature allocations may change prospectively with notice required by law or the store. Purchase verification may require network access. An offline grace period, if offered, does not extend a subscription or waive payment.
8. Acceptable use
You must not use Aranor to:
- access, store, transfer, or facilitate access to credentials or systems without authorisation;
- violate law, sanctions, export controls, privacy, confidentiality, intellectual property, or contracts;
- distribute malware, exploit vulnerabilities, phish, stalk, harass, defraud, or harm;
- probe, overload, disrupt, scrape, or bypass rate limits or security of our or a provider's systems;
- misrepresent identity or entitlement, tamper with purchase verification, or obtain paid features without payment; or
- use the Service in a safety-critical system where failure could cause death, injury, or severe physical or environmental harm.
Good-faith security research is not prohibited merely because it finds a flaw, provided you avoid privacy harm, disruption, extortion, and unauthorised data access and report responsibly.
9. Availability, changes, and updates
We may release fixes, change features, impose reasonable technical limits, or discontinue part or all of the Service. Security, law, or providers may require an update before network features continue. We will use reasonable efforts to notify you of a material discontinuation, but urgent security changes may occur without advance notice.
You allow Google Play or your device to install updates according to your settings. These Terms apply to updates unless separate terms accompany them. We do not promise indefinite support for every device, Android version, third-party app, website, or file format.
10. Ownership and feedback
MurvianLabs and its licensors own Aranor's software, design, branding, text, graphics, and other content, excluding your vault content and identified third-party/open-source material. Aranor and MurvianLabs names and marks require written permission.
If you voluntarily provide feedback, you grant us a worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free right to use and incorporate it without restriction or compensation. This grants no rights in your vault or confidential information; do not include either in feedback.
11. Suspension and termination
You may stop using Aranor at any time. Before uninstalling, export and verify data you wish to keep. Use in-app or Android controls for local erasure and manage external backups separately.
We may suspend network or paid services if you materially breach these Terms, create security or legal risk, misuse infrastructure, or fail purchase verification. Where reasonable, we will give notice and an opportunity to cure. Termination does not authorise remote deletion of your local vault. Provisions that by nature should survive—including ownership, disclaimers, liability, indemnity, disputes, and general terms—survive.
12. Disclaimers
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, ARANOR IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE". MURVIANLABS AND ITS LICENSORS DISCLAIM EXPRESS, IMPLIED, AND STATUTORY WARRANTIES, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, QUIET ENJOYMENT, ACCURACY, AVAILABILITY, AND SECURITY.
We do not warrant that Aranor will be uninterrupted, error-free, immune from attack, compatible with every environment, or capable of preventing every phishing event, breach, coercion, device compromise, or loss. Health and breach results are informational, may be incomplete or delayed, and are not legal, financial, or professional security advice.
Nothing excludes a warranty, guarantee, remedy, or consumer right that cannot lawfully be excluded.
13. Limitation of liability and business indemnity
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, MURVIANLABS, ITS AFFILIATES, LICENSORS, AND PERSONNEL WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, EXEMPLARY, PUNITIVE, OR CONSEQUENTIAL LOSS; LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, GOODWILL, OPPORTUNITY, OR DATA; CREDENTIAL COMPROMISE; ACCOUNT TAKEOVER; BUSINESS INTERRUPTION; OR SUBSTITUTE SERVICES, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of (a) what you paid for Aranor in the 12 months before the event or (b) INR 5,000. The limits apply under every theory and even if a remedy fails its essential purpose. They do not cover liability that law does not allow us to limit, including fraud, wilful misconduct, or death/personal injury caused by negligence where exclusion is unlawful.
If you use Aranor for a business, then to the extent allowed by law that business will defend and indemnify MurvianLabs and its personnel from third-party claims and reasonable costs arising from its unlawful use, breach of these Terms, or infringement of another's rights, except to the extent caused by our breach, negligence, or wilful misconduct. Personal consumers are not subject to this business indemnity.
14. Governing law, disputes, and general terms
These Terms are governed by Indian law, excluding conflict rules. Courts of competent jurisdiction in India have jurisdiction, subject to any mandatory consumer forum, small-claims right, statutory venue, or other non-waivable protection where you live.
Before filing, send written notice describing the dispute and requested resolution using section 15. We will try in good faith to resolve it for 30 days. Either party may seek urgent injunctive relief or use a regulator, consumer commission, data authority, or other forum allowed by law.
- Entire agreement: these Terms, the Privacy Policy, and applicable feature/purchase terms are the entire agreement about Aranor.
- Severability: an unenforceable provision is limited to the minimum necessary; the rest continues.
- No waiver: failure to enforce is not a waiver.
- Assignment: you may not assign without consent. We may assign in a reorganisation, financing, merger, acquisition, or asset transfer, subject to law.
- No agency or third-party rights: no employment, partnership, franchise, fiduciary, or agency relationship is created, and no third party may enforce these Terms unless stated.
We may update these Terms for legal, security, technical, or product reasons. We will post the revision and effective date and provide additional notice for material changes where required. Changes apply prospectively. If you disagree, stop using the Service before they take effect.
